About Us
Join us in taking steps to help victims of domestic violence. Family Shelter Service is holding our second annual 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, October 5th, 8 a.m. at Downers Grove North High School (Sherman & Prince Streets). Arrive at 7:30 a.m. to sign in. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate by your participation that our community will not tolerate or accept violent behavior.
For those brave men willing to literally "walk a mile in her shoes," the event features the Golden Shoe Award, given to any man who agrees to walk the course in women's shoes. For those guys whose feet do not match their good intentions, their own shoes will be returned to them at the ¼ mile mark for a mere $10 donation.
You can help by walking or running in our event, providing sponsorship, giving a donation of money/supplies, or volunteering your time.
